State Scholarships

Scholarships can help a lot to offset your college tuition. Here are some scholarships offered to AAMU students by the state of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ.

  • ​ALABAMA GI DEPENDENTS' EDUCATIONAL BENEFIT PROGRAM

    Tuition, fees and book assistance to children and spouses of eligible ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ veterans. Recipients may attend public institutions of higher education in ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ. Students who are children or spouses of eligible ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ veterans and who attend public post secondary educational institutions in ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ must enroll as an undergraduate student. Application forms may be obtained from the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ State Department of Veterans Affairs, P.O. Box 1509, Montgomery, AL 36102-1509, or from any county veterans service officer. Phone 334/242-5077.

  • ALABAMA NATIONAL GUARD EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

    An award to be used for tuition, educational fees and book/supplies for ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ National Guard members to attend a public post secondary educational institution in ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ. Awards, limited to $500 per term, and no more than $1,000 per year, is not based on need. Students who are active members in good standing with a federally-recognized unit of the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ National Guard. Participants may receive federal veterans' benefits, but must show a cost less aid amount of at least $25. Applications are available from ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ National Guard units. Funds are limited, so students who are Guard members are encouraged to apply early. Forms must be signed by a representative of the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Military Department and the financial aid officer at the college or university the student plans to attend.

  • ALABAMA PREPAID AFFORDABLE COLLEGE TUITION PROGRAM

    A contract to guarantee four years of fully paid undergraduate tuition at any public junior college, college, or university in ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ; an amount equal to the average cost of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ tuition will be provided for students who attend a private, or out-of-state institution. Age limits apply to students enrolled in the program. Parents, grandparents, friends, or any other sponsor may purchase a contract to guarantee tuition payment for a determined number of credit hours for a baccalaureate degree.   • ALABAMA SCHOLARSHIPS FOR DEPENDENTS OF BLIND PARENTS

    An award to cover instructional fees and tuition at an ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ state institution of higher learning for children from families in which the head of the family is blind and whose family income is insufficient to provide educational benefits. Students who are ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ residents and from families in which the head of the family is blind and whose family income is insufficient to provide educational benefits for attendance at an ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ post secondary institution. Students must apply within two years of high school graduation. Applications are available from the State of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Department of Education, Administrative and Financial Services Division, Gordon Persons Building, 50 North Ripley, Montgomery, AL 36130.   • ALABAMA STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

    Need-based, state/federal grant ranging from $300 to $2,500 per academic year. Awards are limited to undergraduate work. Undergraduate students who are ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ residents attending eligible ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ institutions. Nearly 80 ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ institutions participate in the program. Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This form should be filed early and is available from your high school guidance office or the financial aid office at the institution you plan to attend.

  • AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
    A grant award to be used for tuition, fees and board expenses to attend a public post secondary educational institution in ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ. Awards are restricted to students who attend institutions having on-campus housing. Students who are sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters of veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea, or Vietnam and who are residents of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ. Applications are available from the American Legion Department Headquarters, American Legion Auxiliary, 120 North Jackson Street, Montgomery, AL 36104. Application deadline is April 1.   • SENIOR ADULT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
    A free tuition program for senior citizens (persons aged 60 or over) that meet the admission requirements and attend public two-year post secondary institutions in ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ. Contact the financial aid office at any public two-year post secondary educational institution in ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ.Back to Top
  • TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR ALABAMA TEACHERS
    A state grant covering tuition and fees for approved technology courses at approved colleges or universities in ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ. Students who are full-time regularly certified ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ public school teachers enrolled in approved courses that incorporate new technologies in the curriculum.
